Ever stop to think, how our universe is made up of numbers and patterns? How the foundation of everything in the universe is based upon it. This fascination and with my background as a Sound FX Designer and Engineer inspired me to show the basic forms of life through a living portal. I bring you the Resonessence Project.

XM: Is too much of a good thing? Dangerous?

XM is often a skeptical topic, residing on the levels of “fringe science” by conventional minds. The Resonessence project aims approach XM from our skeptical view-point. Something that we can’t see or touch, but can ‘feel’? We need a way to prove it is there, to show that XM is there. We aim to bring a means to safely interact with XM into a tangible, enjoyable medium.

With our sound resonance device, we will not only show the presence of XM but will display the phases of skepticism itself as our project will evolve in reflection of these states. With the increasing intensity of XM moving through our sound resonance device, the device will grow in display intensity to show the increase in XM flowing through our device.

The color of the Resonessence device will shift to reflect the controlling faction of the device; also, a visually pleasing display of colored sand that will change shape and form to reflect the intensity, level, and strength of the portal device. Through our Resonessence device, we hope to change you from fringe skeptic to a believer in the safest means possible without any hint of ingression from any exogenous forces.

It was still dark out as I packed my things into my truck, it was just past 5:00 am. So many things were on still on my mind and I such a long day ahead of me I just didn’t have time to deal with them. As I climbed into my truck I headed to the highway thinking it’s going to take at least two and a half hours for me to get to the rendezvous point. I watched the sun rise above the mountains to greet the day. It was a beautiful fall morning, but I couldn’t let that deter me from my mission. I was getting closer to the meetup point so I decided to exit the highway and hit the back roads. I pulled over and checked my scanner to notice that some of the portals needed to be turned blue, as they were grey and unaligned. I quickly fixed that, back on the road again. Still on schedule, my scanner gathered XM as I drove.  As I arrived I was quickly greeted by one of the Resistance Agents, we quickly transferred all the gear on to the truck and we were on our way.

As we approach our first stop, we were a little weary because we weren’t able to find what we were looking for. This picture was all we had to go on. It wasn’t much as there many places out here that look alike.

On the back of the photo were some very smudged words- was it a place or a name? We decided to check the journal we had found days earlier up in the burned cabin on top of the mountain near Yosemite. There was an excerpt about a legend of Old Prospector, who was half coyote and half burro… who’s to say if this was true or not? They say he is buried in the ghost town of Ballarat.  We jumped into the truck and off we went.

After about an hour or so of bumpy roads we finally found the place we were looking for.  Inside a small rusted container we found our next clue.  It said “Some people wander and find a higher power, some people wander because they are lost, but If you wander to far here you will find death.” I have to admit that it gave me chills reading that note. I passed it on to my fellow agents who already knew where we were headed.

The wind began to pick up and the sand began to twirl like dust devils around us, it was getting harder and harder to see. We soon ran out of road and it became just sand and rocks. It was starting to get dark with the wind blowing and nothing but landmarks to guide us.  We eventually reached our destination and the wind persisted like a turbulent god with a hot temper. We got our tents all set up.

It was a sleepless night due to the wind, but we still had a full day ahead of us.  As we hopped on our dirt bikes we ran across a wild burro that greeted us (later one of my fellow Resistance agents confessed to me that ever since then they had been exposed to XM… That they have heard animals talking to them, I chuckled and sort of brushed them off a bit and put it in the back of my mind).

We traveled for about an hour it seems, and I could have sworn we entered a dimensional rift in time. It looked like we had entered another planet. The location of the portal we were seeking was in the middle of this brave new world. Each step on this planet surface crackled beneath our feet like glass. I thought for sure it would break and I would fall into the depths of the earth below. When the wind blew the crystals that were formed all around us would sing a tune that only nature could sing.  It seems that this portal was out of place and not from this world. We had two more portals to locate before returning back to camp to celebrate our victory.

After locating them we headed back to camp to relax and to join in on the festivities later in the evening. I needed a break from all the XM.

I later fell asleep and was awoken by the vibration of drums, it seems like it was literally shaking the earth. I rubbed my eyes and opened my tent to go check out what was causing the shaking. It was indeed a drum circle, the beat was rhythmic. I sat down and swayed to the resonance. Someone handed me something to drink and I drank it without question- it made me feel more in tune with the music. As the tone of the music changed I could see the sand shifting and making patterns like glyphs… or what one would call the hidden pattern.  I thought I was seeing things, ideas came to form in my mind. The person next to me saw my eyes in amazement and explained to me that certain areas containing a lot of XM can pull iron out of the earth if you use a special device, you can then manipulate certain liquids and make the sand dance. He was right, I turned on my scanner and the XM was flowing in such an abundance from the circle. This was a very special place and I wondered, “Can I find this sort of place back home? How would this help my fellow agents? Did this really happen? Maybe it was the drink they gave me?” So many questions wandered in my head.  I fell asleep and woke up greeted by this family.

The mountains were beautiful in the early morning light. I had to pack, but my mind was bursting with ideas and we still had a long way to go before we got home…
